It's called the art business for a reason.

There is more to being an artist than people think. I have learned to make websites, code, print, and publish. I would love to do nothing more than create new artwork all day, but there is a lot to balance. My advice to the would-be artist out there, it is called the art business for a reason! Register your business, register your copyrights, and don't show your work until the copyright comes through! Also, learn to spot shifty agents! The last thing you want to do is become the flavor of the month because it will leave you forgotten.
